Political prisoner and subscriber to Earth First! Journal, Sean Swain, mailed us last month. We really enjoyed his correspondence and to honor his request we decided to post his letter on our newswire. Solidarity Sean!

Dear EF!J

I would like very much to continue my subscription but I can’t get access to my money right now so please bear with me. I am currently in the hole at Mansfield Correctional, under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the FBI. I believe updated information is available at seanswain.org.

 Here at [Mansfield], prisoners began attacking the system- a group called The Army Of The 12 Monkeys. Administrators are treating it as a gang but it doesn’t behave as a gang. There appears to be no centralized leadership, no hierarchy, and members are anonymous. Unlike most gangs, the A12M does not prey on prisoners, but sabotages the good order of the prison– staples in locks, potatoes in drains, cutting phone and computer cords with toenail clippers, tagging walls, distributing thousands of flyers and all kids of training manuals.

Kellie Marshall Receives 60 Days in Attempted Iowa Mink Farm Raid

After her arrest at the Circle K Fur Farm on October 10th, Kellie Marshall finally resolved her case March 13th and received unexpectedly short sentence of 60 days. She pleaded guilty to releasing an animal from an animal facility and attempted third-degree burglary.

Although no animal escaped the perimeter fencing, some reports state that a cage was opened and a single animal released within the fence.Victor and Kellie were arrested after tripping alarms at the farm, and being apprehended in the property behind the farm after a foot chase.

This is the second time there was an action at the Circle K Fur Farm. The first occurred in 1997, when 5,000 mink and 100 foxes were released.

Earth Liberation Political Prisoners Sadie and Exile Punished for Being “Unrepentant”

Earth Liberation prisoners Joyanna “Sadie” Zacher and Nathan “Exile” Block, who are a married couple, have been disallowed correspondence by their captors with the excuse that Sadie is “unrepentant” of her crimes.

Sadie and Exile are nearing the end of their seven-year-and-eight-month federal prison sentences for two million-dollar arsons prosecuted under the FBI’s Operation Backfire investigation into the Earth Liberation Front. Specifically, the couple has been convicted of the the $959,000 arson of the Romania Chevrolet dealership on March 30, 2001 and the $994,412 arson of Jefferson Poplar on May 21, 2001.
