Eco-prisoner List

While the focus of the EF! Prisoner Support Project is on the U.S.-held, International and self-defense eco-prisoners listed below, we also stand in solidarity with other prisoners who are unjustly incarcerated (as well as arrestees and folks who have been released from prison) for their beliefs and actions reflecting a broader vision towards liberation from the oppressive systems. See a broader list of prisoners from allied struggles here.

Brighton ABC sums up useful information and suggestions for writing to prisoners.  In addition to the surveillance mail to prisoners receive, the postal service may also be monitoring mail of people on the outside.

More political prisoners not mentioned here. Some of whom have been in over 40 years already: http://www.abcf.net/abcf.asp?page=prisoners

We have a list of prisoners from allied movements as well as a list of organizations, including the ABCF, who focus more broadly on political prisoner support in the links under the Prisoner Support tab. We have specifically narrowed our focus only to be realistic about what our capacity is and maintain a sustainable project.

I think it’s a tad unjust to represent these people as “Eco-prisoners” it seems to imply that they are not at fault, pretty much every person on this list bar Fran Thompson are being held in prison justly. There are significantly better ways to have your viewpoint seen than setting things on fire/ blowing stuff up/ stealing. It reflects badly on those of us who love our planet and agree there are major injustices but are trying to fix them through the proper course of political action and social pressure.

It’s not about ”getting a viewpoint seen”-that is the definition of terrorism. Direct action is just that, If you believe in something, and are willing to accept the consequences, than c’est la vie. Ecodefense has never killed anyone-and I doubt we ever will.

Apparently, it killed at least one person.

And, it is about getting a viewpoint seen. Did any of these people think that they were going to bring a halt to any of what they were protesting? Absolutely not. So, you’re right, they are terrorists.

Facepalm, ecodefense is not what led to the border guard being killed. That was a consequence of being on the run for activism and of interest to armed government agents.

In some cases, the amount of financial damage caused does bring a halt to what is being protested. For instance, Jonathan Paul’s actions against wild horse rendering.
