June 11th 2013 Call Out

16 May

The third anniversary of the international day of solidarity with Marie Mason, Eric McDavid, and other longterm anarchist prisoners is quickly approaching!

**June 11th 2013 Callout Statement **

June 11th is the international day of solidarity with Eric McDavid, Marie
Mason, and other longterm anarchist prisoners. If you are planning on
doing an event for the day, please email us at june11[at]riseup[dot]net. You can find
resources, information about events from previous years, and word on
upcoming events at june11.org. Read on to see our thoughts on what it
means to do longterm solidarity, on how Eric and
Marie inspire us, and to learn how June 11th began.

The state stole Eric McDavid and Marie Mason from us in 2006 and 2008 respectively. In the years since their arrests, repression has come to feel less like a specific event and more like an inescapable, ongoing nightmare. Sentenced to 22 years and 20 years, respectively, Marie and Eric remain in cages to this day, and know this nightmare more intimately than most.

Today Marks 7th Year Anniversary of Eric McDavid’s Arrest

13 Jan

Today marks the 7th Anniversary of Eric McDavid’s (also known as “D”) arrest. Eric was arrested (along with Zachary Jenson and Lauren Weiner) on January 13, 2006, as part of the government’s ongoing Green Scare campaign. All three were charged with “Conspiracy to damage and destroy property by fire and an explosive.” His arrest was the direct result of a government informant – known only as “Anna” – who spent a year and a half drawing him in and working with the FBI to fabricate a crime and implicate Eric in it. Anna was paid over $65,000 for her work with the FBI. Eric was imprisoned for what amounts to thought-crime – no actions were ever carried out, and Eric was charged with a single count of “conspiracy” – a powerful legal tool often used by the state to crush dissent.

Below is his personal correspondence followed by a correspondence from Jenny, his partner.

June 11 Day of Eco-Prisoner Solidarity around the corner

8 Jun

[The video above includes a full recording of the Never Alone roadshow which traveled the US this Spring building support for June 11 organizing. Along with thorough up-to-date information on ecoprisoner support, state repression and security culture, the film also features a bold speech by Jeff “Free” Luers and clips from “Green Listed”, a coming documentary on Eric McDavid’s case.]

About June 11:  Last year was an amazing show of international support for eco-anarchist prisoners Marie Mason and Eric McDavid. And this year’s June 11 seems to be shaping up nicely as well from the looks of the online events listing: over 30 cities have confirmed community events, including Indonesia, Isreal and England. And as we saw last year, many did not confirm their events online, but instead took actions to show their solidarity Continue reading

FBI Increases Activist Repression

Newly released FBI “Domestic Terrorism” training materials unveil the misinformation circulating within the government against resistance groups such as anarchists, animal rights activists, environmentalists, and “black separatists.”

The FBI have broadened the rhetoric used against even non-violent groups, citing them as “domestic terrorists” and the definitions continue to broaden. For instance, as highlighted in a recent article found on Green is the New Red, the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act was drafted to target anyone who causes the “loss of profits” of an animal enterprise. The FBI acknowledges this shift in “terrorism” investigations in a slide that says the new law “alleviates the use of force or violence criteria.” Continue reading

Start planning early for June 11 ecoprisoner solidarity actions and events

Information on June 11 events in 2012 and new resources will be coming soon to the June11.org site.

In the meantime, here’s a little recap from last year: On June 11th, 2011 events were held in approximately 30 cities across the globe in solidarity with Marie Mason, Eric McDavid and other long-term anarchist prisoners. Hundreds of people participated in this international event – and Marie and Eric received letters, pictures, love and energy that were poured into making this day a celebration of resistance and an expression of solidarity with our friends and loved ones on the inside.

Amongst solidarity actions around the world included: ATMS in Argentina burned, arson of church construction site in Peru, anti-bank action in Cambridge, UK, Railways sabotaged in Finland, Logging Equipment Sabotaged in Olympia, a series of attacks claimed by ELF Russia and the Informal Anarchist Federation, development building and bank visited in Tacoma, SUV Attacked in Seattle, Banners hung at universities in Greece.

These stories are only a small sampling of what happened on June 11th, 2011. But they are representative of the kind of creativity and energy that we would like to see poured into prisoner support every day of the year. We want June 11th to be a starting point – not an end in itself. We hope that everyone feels re-energized and re-committed to the work that they do, to their communities, and to our friends, lovers and comrades who are being held hostage by the state.”

“Never Alone” Tour in April 2012 supports eco-prisoners Eric McDavid and Marie Mason

20 Mar

Sacramento Prisoner Support and the Marie Mason Support Crew Announce “Never Alone: National Long-Term Anarchist Prisoner Support Tour” in April 2012. Below is their call to get involved.

“It’s 2012. The world is ending. So what are we at Sacramento Prisoner Support and Marie Mason Support Crew gonna do? Go on an epic road trip to talk about prisoner support, of course! Because unless we actually make this the last year of their world, our comrades will still be in there the next.

The nationwide Never Alone tour will be crisscrossing the country in April 2012, featuring the usual suspects speaking about long-term anarchist prisoner support. Focusing specifically on the cases of Eric McDavid and Marie Mason, the tour will mark the spots where the events of these cases unfolded, using multimedia presentations to bring the facts of these cases to light.

As well as raising awareness and support for Eric and Marie, the tour will also feature: strategizing about how to more effectively grow a culture of resistance that can breach the prison walls and sustain us and our friends for the long term, a security culture beyond 101 workshop (updated for 2012, now with extra tech!) and some awesome guest speakers. Truly, you won’t want to miss this… Continue reading

ELF actions in Russia in Solidarity with Marie Mason and Eric McDavid

14 Jun

original communique from 325.nostate.net

“For me solidarity is a constant proposal to struggle, is the continuation and the development of the revolutionary action for which the comrade was captured” – Gerasimos Tsakalos, Conspiracy of Cells of Fire

01.06 we torched electrical measuring and control devices in 2 underground service booths of a water communication system that brings hot water to a military intelligence site in Butovskiy forest. To add to the fact that this infrastructure serves military personnel, more than 800 trees were cut during earthworks for this water supply line to even appear in the forest. To hamper service brigades further, we also spiked the road they use for maintaining the system.

05.06 we torched an excavator at a highway construction site west of Moscow (Volokolamsk direction).

06.06 and 10.06 we expropriated some construction equipment and destroyed geologists’ measurement posts in the glades of Butovskiy forest.

11.06 we broke into yet another underground service booth and put to fire all the digital and analog devices and tools inside.

We dedicate these attacks to Marie Mason and Eric McDavid. We don’t have the honour of personal acquaintance with them, but their dedication to protecting our Planet and conscious choices they’ve made not only to act, but also to stand their ground in the wake of state repressions, inspire us and help us to continue on our path.

For Earth Liberation! For Human Liberation!

June 11 marked day of intenational solidarity with Marie Mason and Eric McDavid

12 Jun

According to June11.org, 29 cities around the world celebrated their solidarity with US eco-prisoners Marie Mason and Eric McDavid yesterday. International cities, including: Barcelona, Tel Aviv, Montreal, Helsinki, Toronto and Melbourne, hosted potlucks, vigils, film showings, letter writing nights and various fundraising events to show support for Eric, Marie and other long term anarchist prisoners. For a collection of resources on supporting these prisoners, such as interviews, flyers and statements, check out June11.org

Statement from Jeff ‘Free’ Luers: “Today is a sad day for me because I continue a legacy that started with me, but sadly does not end there. June 11th 2001 was the day I was sentenced to 22yrs and 8 months in prison. It is a day that both forever changed my life and the life of this struggle…

June 11th is a reminder to us that though we spend our days outside of a prison many of our friends and allies spend theirs behind bars having sacrificed what little freedom they had to fight for something greater than themselves. We have a responsibility to them and to ourselves to struggle and fight until all are free.

I may no longer be imprisoned, but I cannot and will not rest until my friends are back home with their families and our struggle for Earth, Animal, and Human liberation is successful.” Click here for full statement from Free
